SCHOOL CAMPING MADE EASY

We understand it’s tricky to find a campsite with enough space to cater for entire school groups. That’s why we now offer the site privately to schools where the children and parents can camp whilst giving the staff peace of mind it’s safe and secure.

Freshwell Camping is the perfect site for schools situated in a beautiful location overlooking stunning Croyde Beach. The site is also in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) offering endless education on coastal wildlife, ocean conservation and other marvels of nature. THINGS TO DO

SURFING

Croyde is one of the UK’s top surfing locations in the UK regularly hosting international’s surfing competitions. It’s a great activity to get involved in there are several surf schools in Croyde available to book with. The closest to Freshwell is Surfing Croyde Bay which is only a 5 minutes walk from the entrance of the campsite towards Baggy

HORSE RIDING

One of the best ways to experience the outdoors in the local area in on horseback. Royland Riding Stables is only a 5 minute walk away and offers riding routes of varying distance and lessons for all abilities.

WALKING & ORIENTEERING

The coastline around North Devon and Exmoor is a recognised area of outstanding natural beauty. You can easily plan yourself routes to follow on any map. Or right on our doorstep is Baggy Point which offers a stunning clifftop walk which would take no longer than 2 hours to complete

We are actively involved in working with Surfers Against Sewage, a national marine conservation group that have been campaigning for clean beaches and coastlines for over 20 years. The huge awareness in single use plastics has given this fantastic organisation a platform to stand on. SAS work with schools on beach cleans, classroom lessons and much more to inspire the next generation of environmental activists

SERVICES AND FACILITIES

Housekeeping

Daily housekeeping is included in the rates. Toilets and showers checked and cleaned twice a day.

Showers

We have shower units running hot and cold water 24 hours a day and free of charge.

Free Parking on Premises

You can park your car beside your pitch area. If possible, we kindly ask that you car-share and keep individual vehicles to a minimum to save space.

Wetsuit washing

We have fresh water bins onsite to wash your wetsuits after taking a dip and riding the waves.

Mobile Phone Charging

We have limited availability to re-charge mobile phones however we advise you bring power supplies.

Food & Drink

Our friend Tessa with her Sri Lankan food stall Hippy happy Hoppers is onsite providing freshly made healthy breakfasts, dinners, teas & coconut drinks.

Sink Area

There is a shared/communal sink area for cleaning and washing your cups and plates.

Ice Block Freezing

We offer a service to freeze ice blocks for £1 each time. Please mark your ice blocks to identify them.

Onsite Staff Daily 24/7

There are staff available onsite daily to handle your check in process and to answer any questions about the local area throughout your stay.

No Electrical Hookups

Unfortunately we do not provide mains ‘power-in’ to the tents. We have a limited AC/DC charging facility and therefore recommend you bring portable power supplies.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

Please take note of the following before booking which we adhere to strictly for health and safety reasons.

Safety on Site

Please keep an eye on the children at all times. Whilst we have staff on site, the parents and staff are responsible for them. Areas marked off as out of bounds are like that for a reason.

Number of People

Only the number of people detailed under your booking are permitted to camp during your stay. We reserve the right to decline additional people not listed on your booking without prior notice and updated booking confirmation.

Arrivals / Checkin

We ask that groups arrive within the closest time-frame as possible. Upon arrival please check in with the reception staff so we know you’re with the group and can give guidance on where is best to pitch up.

5mph Vehicle Speed Limit

We ask that when driving on the campsite to keep below 5mph at all times. There are lots of children playing when the site is busy.

No Dogs Allowed

We cannot accept dogs for the safety of others. However guide dogs are welcome with their owners. We suggest you click on www.thegooddogguide.com for campsites in Devon that do take dogs.

No Fires

We do not permit open fires for health and safety reasons. Fire Pits are permitted but please keep them under control. If you wish to use BBQ’s, we can provide bricks at reception.
