Films on the big screen return to Croyde
Two nights, 18 films, live music and family fun, all in aid of North Devon’s water quality.
Grab a deckchair, wrap up in your DryRobe® and join us for a weekend under the stars — where world-class surf and conservation films meet live music, family workshops and good food, all on the doorstep of the North Devon World Surfing Reserve.
Just £10 for the whole weekend. Under-12s go free with a paying adult, and every penny raised goes towards improving water quality across our coastline.
Friday 21 August, 6–10pm
Save The Waves Film Festival — the world’s only international surf and environmental film festival, live on the big outdoor screen.
- Pertama: The Life of Rio Waida — one surfer’s rise from Bali’s local breaks to the world stage
- Save the Bay — a Fuerteventura community fights to stop an industrial dock destroying their marine playground
- Haagua — Native American surfers reviving ancestral traditions on the water
- Granny Grommets — the bodyboard-wielding sisterhood proving age is no barrier to the surf
- Peace of Mind — a Ghanaian surf school turning waves into hope for local youth
- Plus five more, including In Between Tides, ECAT, Illescas, Surf. Eat. Repeat. and Surfing São Miguel
Kicks off with live music from Laura Kate at 6pm, food from The Lazy Wave, and DryRobe® rentals on site.
Saturday 22 August, Midday–10pm
Free family workshops all day, live music from Jack Dayman, a panel talk including people behind two of the evening’s films, then the big screen lights up again at 8:30pm with the Edinburgh Conservation Film Festival.

- The Detectorists — the viral, dog’s-eye-view otter documentary everyone’s talking about
- SOS Puffin — narrated by Megan McCubbin, the fight to bring puffins back to the Firth of Forth
- Salmon Run — following Atlantic salmon on their epic Devon river journey
- The Land Remembers — a landmark land-rights win that reshaped conservation in South Africa

Earth Action North Devon is a local charity (Reg No: 1182464) on a mission to protect and improve our environment through community action.
They launched with a simple aim: to tackle plastic pollution head-on by raising awareness, reducing consumption and clearing waste from the environment. Their remit has since evolved and expanded. Through education, events, campaigns and networks, today They’re dedicated to inspiring reconnection with nature, driving sustainable behaviour change and accelerating environmental action across North Devon to foster a healthier relationship between people and the natural world.
Freshwell have been working with and supporting Earth Action for many years starting with information relevant to when visiting North Devon and the campsite to more recently hosting fund raising events for their programs.
